A Personal Thank-you From Gizmo Updated 25. December 2011 - 20:50 by ianjrichards

It is Christmas Eve here in Sydney Australia. Not all cultures celebrate Christmas but almost everyone celebrates the end of the year. It is a reflective time; a time to look back on the year, a time to count our blessings. The last year has been a wonderful year for the Gizmo’s Freeware website. The site is in great shape with lots of new content and many new initiatives. And as a bonus we now have 50% more daily visitors than at the start of the year and this has pushed us into the top 5000 websites in the world. These may be small achievements for a commercial website but for a community website with no paid staff, no offices and no assets it is remarkable. This has been achieved by because of the generosity, talent and dedication of the team of volunteers who run this community website. To these wonderful people I give my hearty thanks. And in the same manner I thank you dear readers. Without your support there would be no Gizmo’s Freeware. In particular I’d like to thank you for the quality of the comments so many of you have left on our website. We regard these comments to be just as valuable as the site articles themselves and of great value to other users. They reinforce the concept that Gizmo’s is a website site created by freeware users for freeware users. It is not our site; it is your site. The fact that we have managed to survive and grow means that we can continue to tell many people about the wonderful array of quality free software that is available. For well-off users in developed countries free software is a bonus but to the unemployed, disadvantaged and citizens of third world countries freeware it is an absolute necessity. As the New Year approaches we have many new challenges to face and I hope that with your trust and support we can meet those challenges and keep the site focussed firmly on meeting your needs. From my heart I thank you all for your generous support. And to all our readers, in over 224 different countries across the globe, may I wish you peace, health and prosperity in 2012. Gizmo December 2011. Share this Average: 4.775 Average: 4.8 (40 votes) Your rating: Select ratingCancel ratingPoorOkayGoodGreatAwesome Your rating: None Article type: Site documentation Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

You guys always make me look very smart and on top of things whenever I post the link to your site in any number of public places, and I do that at least once a week, and so do 2 other members of my family. You guys really do a sensational job and should be very proud of what you have accomplished with this.

Being from Cuba, a country where must people doesn't have Internet access, and now an emigrate who doesn't have much money to spend in software, I appreciate very much this site for those many years of advise and guide in the use of freeware.

Thanks

Never ceases to amaze me how much great great free stuff is available and not just on Windows - there's a ton of great linux stuff too. Heaps of appreciation to you and all the staff, Gizmo. I found this site at the beginning of this year and it's a breath of fresh air among the many free "review" sites that do little more than list down. Greetings from Indonesia.

Gizmo...
Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful website
-empowers us with more skills and knowlege, with software we wouldnt
otherwise know about
-such an easy to read website with each article on one page
-no vested interests by any reviewer or contributor apart from empowering one another
-puts commercial biases completely aside - unbiased and unfiltered information
Every mainstream PC Magazine and PC Editor should be shouting out "Gizmo's freeware" to the world, funny they dont isnt it ? Instead they push their sponsors products and leave people unaware of the full range of freeware treasures that are available
May you and your website excel even more in 2012 !

As a regular visitor of your sites I am very grateful and hope for your growing further and mantaining your quality.
You spread sofware in the world and among people from different cultures, places and ages. I myself am 77 years old and live in Brazil, in a city called
PORTO ALEGRE (the free translation of its name: Happy Harbour).
Merry Christmas and Happy 2012!

I have to come clean and admit something. I am one of those people that fixes all kinds of computer hardware & software issues for free because I hate to see people spend useless $ on crappy service. When someone asks me which software is best for this or that, this website is where I send them FIRST due to the absolutely top notch quality everything. I can't begin to tell you how much research time this site has saved me on free tech support.

Happy Holidays to all people in all parts of the world & hoping for a prosperous new year!!

Yes, there is a cyber-Santa Claus. Thank you Gizmo for giving your readers wonderful gifts every day of the year! I never download software without checking your site first -- not only for your own experts' descriptive opinions, but for those of your experienced commenter/readers as well.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, the Winter Solstice or just the New Year, may it be a better one for all of us, thanks to your efforts and insights!

Funny, you don't write with an Australian accent. :)
